Editorial policy
Clear Style Journal aims to make writing about clothes accurate, fair and useful. We explain the basis of our claims, avoid presenting personal taste as objective fact and correct meaningful errors when they are brought to our attention.
Accuracy and context
Writers should check factual details against reliable material and give readers enough context to understand a claim. Where interpretation is involved, we identify it as interpretation rather than settled fact. We do not invent sources, quotations, product tests or personal experience. Advice about style is presented as an option to consider, not a universal rule.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for their relevance to readers and the subject of the publication. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage, favourable wording or control over editorial conclusions. Writers and editors should disclose relevant interests so they can be considered before publication.
Corrections
Readers can report an error through the Contact page. We review the concern, check the relevant material and correct confirmed errors. When a change affects the meaning of a published piece, we make the correction clear in the article rather than quietly changing its point.
Paid and partner material
Paid placements, sponsored material and other partner contributions are labelled so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial coverage. Labels appear with the relevant material, and commercial arrangements do not change the requirement for clear, accurate wording.
